About Jewel

Jewel is a highly accomplished dancer. She has over 23 years of dance training, and has been bellydancing professionally for 8 years. Nowadays, dancing is Jewel's full-time profession - she teaches weekly classes, performs and hosts party workshops on weekends, plus runs the business side of Jewel Bellydance in between. Jewel began her bellydance training in the mid 1990's, and continues to upgrade her skills through attending workshops with visiting master instructors from the Middle East.

Teaching

Jewel is one of Melbourne's most respected teachers of bellydance, and her school retains around 100 students each term. In the classroom, Jewel is well-known for her enthusiasm and clear communication. She creates a joyous, non-judgemental atmosphere while nurturing technical and artistic achievement. Jewel is highly knowledgeable about the history, music and traditions of Middle Eastern Dance, and holds a Safe Dance Practice certificate from the Queensland University of Technology.

In Performance

Jewel is a vivacious performer known for her sparkling stage presence and impressive technical skill, and she dances regularly at weddings, hens nights, birthday parties and corporate events. Her repertoire includes both modern cabaret and folkloric styles of Middle Eastern dance, along with prop-work such as veil, cane and sword. Jewel also performs modern Bollywood dance. Jewel's experience in entertaining is second to none, having performed as a singer and dancer since childhood.
